While receiving massages is something special and luxurious in Switzerland, having a regular professional massage is a part of culture in Japan. When I was a child, for instance, my mother went often to a massage therapist. I also went to get a massage during my days of working in Tokyo.
Massages among family members was usual in my childhood in Japan. I used to massage my mother (almost whole body---from the neck to the feet). She knew what acupressure points and which areas I should press and knead. I was pleased to see her relaxed every time I gave her a massage.
She, my father and my grand mother massaged me (head, shoulders and feet) from time to time.
